You know what I loved about Star Trek? It was the best people doing their best work. They were serious people, they didn’t mess with frivolity or lame catchphrases. They certainly didn’t engage in 20th Century slang which changes yearly.

Even the lowest Ensign was a cut above your average Joe. The show made us see what we could aspire to.

In fact, most of the stories and franchises we loved were aspirational. We could aspire to be better than what we are. In Trek everyone played Chess and listened to classical music and quoted Shakespeare. These were intelligent people.

It’s part of what made the show so appealing. The best minds wrestling with scientific problems, social issues, and ethical conundrums. Sure there was some humorous episodes but it was always done within the construct of the show and the characters.

Not anymore.

Kill Me.

To put it mildly, LOWER DECKS is enough to make me throw up. Never mind how it checks all the intersectional boxes, it just turns Star Trek into Futurama or Rick and Morty. But less funny, more insulting.

This is another in a long line of SJW Hollywood assholes “desconstructing” (i.e. shitting on) our heroes and franchises of yesteryear. I’m sure this comes as no surprise but man is it stupid. If it’s going to be this way, at least be funny. It’s not.

Look, I’m not so arrogant that I can’t take a little parody of my favorite titles. Star Wars has had some hilarious spoofs. Something as serious as Star Trek deserves to be taken down a peg or two.

But there’s a difference between lovingly poking fun and outright defiling. Since Kurtzman took over, Trek has been on a downhill slide since 2009. Discovery was a disaster. The Kelvin Universe is McTrek. Picard was an abomination. And now this.

Trek is dead. It’s desiccated corpse is now lying next to Star Wars and Dr. Who.
